Our Code of Conduct for the Use of Generative AI Tools
Last updated: April 26, 2026
Introduction
At The Tech Buzz, we believe in the transformative potential of generative AI while recognizing the responsibility that comes with using it in journalism. This Code of Conduct outlines how we use AI tools across our editorial operations, what safeguards we have in place, and how we maintain the trust our readers place in us. Our commitment is to transparency, accuracy, and the highest ethical standards in every piece of content we publish.
1. Transparency and Disclosure
We are committed to being upfront with our readers about when and how AI is used in our content:
- AI-generated content: Any article that is substantially generated or drafted with the assistance of generative AI tools is clearly labeled with the notice “This article was generated with AI assistance.”
- AI-generated images: When cover images or illustrations are created using AI image generation tools, they are labeled as “AI-generated image” in the image credit area.
- Sponsored content: Articles published in partnership with sponsors are clearly marked with an “In partnership with” banner, regardless of whether AI was used in their creation.
- No hidden automation: We do not publish AI-generated content without disclosure. Readers always know what they are reading.
2. Human Oversight and Editorial Review
AI is a tool in our newsroom, not a replacement for human judgment:
- All AI-assisted content is reviewed, fact-checked, and edited by a human editor before publication.
- AI tools are never given the final say on editorial decisions including story selection, framing, or tone.
- Our editorial team retains full ownership and accountability for all published content, regardless of how it was initially drafted.
- Journalists and editors are trained on responsible AI use and are required to verify all AI-generated claims, statistics, and quotations against primary sources.
3. How We Use Generative AI
We use generative AI tools in the following ways:
- Research assistance: Summarizing public filings, earnings reports, press releases, and technical documentation to accelerate the research phase.
- Draft generation: Producing initial drafts of news briefs, particularly for SEC filings, funding announcements, and product launches, which are then substantially edited by our team.
- Image creation: Generating illustrative cover images when original photography or licensed stock imagery is not available or appropriate.
- SEO and metadata: Assisting with headline suggestions, meta descriptions, and structured data generation.
- Code and platform development: Using AI coding assistants to build and maintain the TechBuzz platform itself.
4. What We Do Not Use AI For
- We do not use AI to fabricate quotes, sources, or interviews.
- We do not use AI to generate opinions or editorial positions — all opinion pieces reflect the views of their named human authors.
- We do not use AI to manipulate images of real people or events in misleading ways.
- We do not use AI to produce content designed to deceive, mislead, or manipulate readers.
- We do not use AI to automate the publication of content without human review.
5. Data Privacy and AI Tools
We take the privacy of our readers, sources, and contributors seriously:
- We do not input confidential source information, private communications, or personally identifiable reader data into generative AI tools.
- We vet AI tools for their data handling policies and only use services that do not train on our proprietary content without consent.
- Subscriber data, reader interactions, and analytics are never shared with or processed by third-party AI models.
6. Accuracy and Corrections
AI models can produce inaccurate or misleading information. We mitigate this through:
- Mandatory fact-checking of all AI-assisted content against primary and secondary sources before publication.
- A clear corrections policy — if an error originating from AI assistance is identified post-publication, we issue a correction promptly and transparently.
- Regular audits of AI-generated content quality to identify patterns of inaccuracy and improve our review processes.
7. Guest Posts and Contributor Content
Guest contributors and sponsored content partners are expected to disclose their use of generative AI tools. Articles submitted as guest posts are clearly labeled as such. We reserve the right to reject or request revisions to guest content that does not meet our editorial standards, including undisclosed use of AI-generated text or imagery.
8. Evolving Standards
The landscape of generative AI is evolving rapidly. We are committed to regularly reviewing and updating this Code of Conduct as technology, industry best practices, and regulatory frameworks develop. We welcome feedback from our readers on how we can continue to improve our approach to responsible AI use. Please reach out to us at editorial@techbuzz.ai or through our contact page.
Our Pledge
We believe that generative AI, when used responsibly, can enhance the quality and breadth of technology journalism. But trust is earned through transparency. By clearly labeling AI involvement, maintaining rigorous human editorial standards, and holding ourselves accountable, we aim to set a standard for ethical AI use in digital media. Our readers deserve nothing less.
